HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced four more additions to the team's 2008 Training Camp roster. The Killer Bees added forwards James Edgar, Aaron Lee, Zak McClellan and Mark Stockdale. Camp opens Monday, October 6, at Dodge Arena.
Edgar, 25, last played in 2006-07 at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward spent four seasons there after a three-year stint in the Ontario Hockey League with Saginaw, London and Peterborough. The Brigden, Ontario, native's amateur totals include 202 games, 64 points (24-40-64) and 529 PIM.
Lee, a 23-year-old Calgary, Alberta, native recently completed a four-year career at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. He played in 145 games and collected 51 points (28-23-51) and 136 PIM. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound winger was honored with the Alaska-Fairbanks Top Playoff Performer Award as a junior thanks to his play in the first round of the CCHA playoffs vs. Western Michigan. Among his two goals and one assist in the three-game set was the series-clinching, game-winning goal.
McClellan, a product of Frankenmuth, Michigan, is a 25-year-old graduate of Michigan State University. In four seasons with the Spartans, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward appeared in 99 games and collected seven points (3-4-7) and 49 PIM. He was used primarily as a checking-line forward and helped the team win the 2007 NCAA Championship as well as reach the NCAA Final 8 in 2006 and 2008.
Stockdale, 23, last played at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers (2004-06) and was named Team MVP for the 2004-05 season. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound forward is from Brantford, Ontario.
"These four players will add competitiveness to our training camp as they vie for a spot on our team," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said.
