Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Pee Dee Pride announced today the re-signing of center Kyle Kidney for the 2004-2005 season.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakout season last year, scoring a career-high 20 goals and 48 points while playing in all 72 of the Pride's games. Kidney was the only player on the Pride roster to appear in all 72 games last year. In his two seasons with the Pride, the Ithaca, NY native has played in 143 of a possible 144 games, including 126 straight.
Kidney began his professional career in 2001-02, playing in 44 games with the United Hockey League's Quad City Mallards and in four games with the Hershey Bears of the AHL.
A ninth-round selection (243rd overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Kidney has played 191 games as a professional, recording 107 points.
"Kyle was a key player on last year's team, a jack-of-all-trades type of guy," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "Kyle plays both the power play and the penalty kill, was our best face-off man and he hasn't missed a game in almost two seasons. We're excited to have him back."
