Chiefs Re-Sign Tarabrin; Rookie Playmaker Added to Roster

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that they have re-signed veteran right wing Dmitri Tarabrin {TEAR-A-brin} and signed rookie forward Luke Molotowsky {MALL-O-TOSS-key}.

Tarabrin, 27, played in 70 games last season for the Chiefs scoring 11 goals and 26 points. The 5'8, 180 LBS native of Moscow, Russia ranks third on the Chiefs all-time games played list (300).

Tarabrin was acquired by the Chiefs mid-way through the 1998-99 season from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for Jon Sorg. He did not play hockey during the 2001-02 season. Tarabrin has 54 goals and 125 points in his career with the Chiefs.

Molotowsky, 21, split time this season between Winnipeg South Blues of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 38 games with Winnipeg, he had 28 goals in 50 points. He was traded to Fort McMurray in January where he appeared in 16 regular season games scoring 7 goals and 14 points. Molotowsky was a key member of the Oil Barons playoff run where he scored 11 goals, including four game winning goals and 22 points in 21 games. Fort McMurray lost in the AJHL finals to Grande Prairie Storm.

The 6'1, 195 LBS native of Selkirk, Manitoba spent parts of three seasons in the Western Hockey League with Portland and the Brandon Wheat Kings. In 1998, as a fifteen year old, Molotowsky was selected in the first round of the WHL draft by the Portland Winterhawks.
