RICHMOND, VA - (Tuesday, August 15, 2006) - The USL Second Division regular season champion Richmond Kickers became the first club in the league's 11-year history to sweep all four statistical awards in a season, with forward Robert Ssejjemba capturing the award for Scoring Champion and Goal Scoring Champion, midfielder Chris Carrieri finishing as the league's Assists Leader and netminder Ronnie Pascale garnering Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
Ssejjemba consistently led the team and the league in scoring this season, notching 17 of the Kickers 50 goals in 19 games played. With four assists, he concluded the 2006 campaign with 38 points, 15 points ahead of second-place Mike Burke (9 goals, 5 assists, 23 points). A native of Kampala, Uganda, Ssejjemba is in his second year with the Kickers and has been named to the USL2 Team of the Week five times over the season, garnering USL2 Player of the Week honors twice.
Leading the league with nine assists, Carrieri finished third on the team in scoring with five goals for 19 points in 19 games played. The 2000 ACC Player of the Year joined the Kickers prior to the 2005 season after spending the prior year with the Rochester Raging Rhinos (USL1). Drafted first overall in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft, Carrieri spent three seasons in Major League Soccer (San Jose, Colorado).
In his seventh season with the Kickers, fifth as starting goalkeeper, Pascale earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors with a league-low goals against average of .99.
