Kickers Invitational to Kick off Saturday

RICHMOND, VA - (Friday, February 27, 2009) - The Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club is pleased to welcome 110 teams to the Richmond area this weekend, February 28-March 1 for the third annual Kickers Invitational. The tournament is comprised of 17 divisions, ranging from U-10 through U-19 Boys and U-9 through U-19 Girls. Over 3,500 players, parents and coaches are expected to descend upon the Richmond area this weekend.

"The goal of the Kickers Invitational is to offer the best value on the east coast," comments Tish Schrock, Director of Tournaments. "We wanted to create a player development weekend that had quality competition, clubs, teams, officiating and fields. Most importantly we also wanted to do this at a very affordable price to the team's participating. We continue to grow the event and are looking forward to an outstanding weekend of competition."

The Kickers Invitational is a player development-motivated event that allows competitive clubs the opportunity to compete against other elite clubs from across the country. Teams from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, D.C., and North Carolina will arrive in Richmond on Friday night to begin competition at four locations Saturday morning. The Kickers Invitational utilizes soccer complexes throughout the Greater Richmond area providing an extensive economic boost to the region. All match sites are selected for their quality to enhance the overall tournament experience for players, teams and parents. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to be scouted by a number of collegiate colleges from throughout the east coast, invited to attend the prestigious event.
