Kickers Host Cincinnati In Regular Season Home Opener

RICHMOND, VA - (Wednesday, April 18, 2007) - Join the defending USL2 Champion Richmond Kickers for Pro Pass Kickoff Night this Saturday, April 21st as they host the Cincinnati Kings in the 2007 regular season home opener. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Pro Pass holders will be entitled to special prizes, including a drawing for a new Play Station 3. Pro Passes must be activated via RichmondKickers.com to be eligible and the cardholder must be present to win.

The Kickers will meet second-year USL2 team Cincinnati for the first time since the semi-final playoff round, which catapulted the Kickers to the Championship match at the conclusion of the 2006 season. After the Kings handed the Kickers a 0-1 loss during the 2006 season home opener, Richmond returned the favor on the road later in the season with a 1-0 result on a Mike Burke tally.

Kickers to Watch

Newcomers Trey Alexander (#18) and Nowaf Jaman (#11) join the Kickers roster after spending the 2006 season with Cincinnati. Both started in the Kickers 3-1 exhibition victory over USL1 expansion franchise Carolina Railhawks with Alexander notching the first goal of the night. USL2 Most Valuable Player and leading scorer Robert Ssejjemba (#14) rejoins the 2007 side after a brief stint with DC United (MLS) at the end of the 2006 season. Ssejjemba tallied the game-winner over Carolina, while defender Trevor McEachron (#7) nodded home the Kickers third goal of the night off a corner kick taken by rookie midfielder Charlie Howe (#12). The 2006 Supporter's Choice MVP and Player's Choice MVP Mike Burke (#19) will once again be a stalwart in the midfield after moving into the third-place position on the Kickers all-time career points list (75).
