
Kickers Entertain Scouts And Colonial Cup Teams May 29th

The Richmond Kickers return to UR Stadium this Saturday, May 29th to host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Scout Night at 7:00 pm. Scouts and Colonial Cup tournament participants can purchase discounted tickets in advance by calling 804-644-5425 x 310. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a special gift, courtesy of Flowers Baking Co.
The Kickers will play host to the Riverhounds this Saturday, marking the second meeting of the season between the two clubs. The first date between the two nearly a month ago resulted in a 1-1 draw on Pittsburgh's home turf. An unfortunate own goal gave the home team the advantage for most of the match until a last-gasp goal by Kickers leading scorer Matthew Delicâte spared the Kickers blushes. Overall, Richmond has obtained a 10-4-3 record over Pittsburgh with a rivalry dating back to 1999 when the two franchises competed in the USL First Division.
The last time out revealed a fantastic performance from the Kickers (3-1-3), who dispatched of the Charlotte Eagles, 3-1. The win provided Richmond's finest with three much needed points, moving the squad into sole possession of second place. Two well-placed free kicks from Mike Burke and Jonathan Villanueva, accompanied by another Delicâte tally supplied the Kickers with all the necessary offense. Elsewhere, the Riverhounds (0-3-3) pushed league leaders, Charleston Battery, to the brink in a thrilling encounter at home. The Battery were the beneficiaries of two late goals which saw off the home side, 4-3.
Players to Watch
Kickers: The league leader in goals at the moment, forward Matthew Delicâte (#7) is worth the price of admission. The English international has bagged an impressive six goals in seven matches and represents a constant threat to score with every touch of the ball. Midfielder Mike Burke (#19), the club's all-time assists leader, was showered with Team of the Week honors for his outing last weekend. Along with a remarkable converted free kick, Burke introduced several dangerous crosses into the box throughout the game. Veteran defender Sascha Görres (#23) joined Burke on the Team of the Week after supplying his third assist of the season last week against Charlotte. Anchoring a back line that has allowed just six goals thus far, he doubles as an offensive threat, leading the league in assists.
Riverhounds: Forward Lee Kouadio-Tobey (#17) recorded a goal and an assist in his last outing against the Charleston Battery, and was the sole Pittsburgh representative on this week's Team of the Week. The University of Vermont product tallied four points in his last three games. Forward Jeremy Deighton (#18) is another integral part of the Riverhound's young nucleus, finding the back of the net twice in his last five appearances. Former Kickers defender Ed Hayden (#8) joined the Riverhounds squad prior to the 2008 season after taking the USL-2 Championship title with Richmond in 2006. A native of Silver Spring, MD, Hayden has made 35 appearances with the Riverhounds over the past two seasons, amassing over 3,000 minutes with the Pittsburgh defensive unit.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium, the School's Out Festival will feature live music, food, inflatable games and fun for the entire family. The Kickers pro soccer team will then highlight the evening with an important home clash against the league leading Charleston Battery at 7:00 pm.
