Western Mass Pioneers News Release
LUDLOW, Mass., May 26, 2010 - The Western Mass Pioneers go on their first extended road trip this weekend. On Friday, the Pioneers will be visiting the Brooklyn Knights, who will try to gain their first points of the season. The Knights currently are at the bottom of the table, with 0 wins and 3 losses. The Pioneers are gearing up for a game with a team that has something to prove.
On Sunday, the Pioneers will travel to Ottawa for the Fury's home and season opener. The Fury is the only team in the Northeast Division that has not played a game. The Pioneers are planning for an attacking team that will want to start with a win.
The Pioneers vaunted defense expects to get even better with the possible return of Co-captain Jay Willis, who is recovering from a pulled muscle. The Pioneers have only allowed one goal in three games. Goalie Shane Curran-Hays posted two straight shutouts.
The Pioneers then return home to Lusitano Stadium on Saturday, June 5 at 7 PM to face arch-rivals New Hampshire Phantoms. Please visit www.wmpioneers.com for more info.
