Richmond, VA - (Friday, May 30, 2003) - The Richmond Kickers (3-4-1, 10 points) scored two goals in each half to defeat the Cincinnati Riverhawks (4-4-0) 4-1. It stands as the Kickers first win in the last five games and the most goals they have scored in a game since a 4-2 win over Charlotte on July 27, 2002.
Minute-By-Minute Highlights
8th Minute: Goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale is not able to handle a loose ball in the box and Cincinnati's Juan Sastoque gets a shot off on an open goal but his half-volley goes wide right.
14th Minute: Several Kickers players are into the box but Ray Goodlett's shot is saved by Goalkeeper Matt Reiswerg. The rebound is chased down by Goodlett but his next shot is deflected and the Cincinnati defender clears the ball.
15th Minute: GOAL Midfielder Mike Burke sends in a long cross from the right sideline and forward Greg Simmonds knocks in a perfect header into the back of the net. Riverhawks 0, Kickers 1.
19th Minute: Defender Khary Stockton misplays a cross into the box and Juan Sastoque touches the ball to his left and takes a left-footed shot that goes just wide of the near post.
20th Minute: GOAL Tony Williams plays a nice through ball to Jason Russell on the right side. Russell dribbles the ball into the box and slides a cross through the center of the penalty area. Midfielder David Testo fakes a shot and an on-coming Mike Burke slots the ball past Reiswerg. Riverhawks 0, Kickers 2.
30th Minute: Edward Child takes a free kick from just outside the penalty box on the right side but his bullet through traffic is saved by GK Ronnie Pascale.
34th Minute: Marcel Matis takes a left-footed shot from 15 yards out that is headed over the end-line and out of danger by defender Chris Brown.
Second Half
52nd Minute: After the ball is headed around the box several times, Edward Child takes a left-footed shot that sails well right of the goal.
54th Minute: Mike Burke takes a shot from 30 yards out that forces Reiswerg to make a diving save to his right. 58th Minute: Mike Burke takes a free kick from the right side but Kevin Knight's header from 10 yards out misses the goal wide to the left.
60th Minute: GOAL Mike Burke sends a ball over the Cincinnati defense. Greg Simmonds runs on to it and threads a ball across the top of the 18 yard box to David Testo who takes one touch to his left and unleashes a left-footed shot into the top of the net. Riverhawks 0, Kickers 3.
69th Minute: GOAL Chris Doré dribbles around a Richmond defender and towards the center of the box where he buries a shot from 12 yards out. Riverhawks 1, Kickers 3.
74th Minute: GOAL A cross from Tony Williams goes all the way across the box where it's chased down on the right side by Paul Lekics who dribbles back towards the top of the box and passes the ball to David Testo who places the ball just out of the reach of Reiswerg. Riverhawks 1, Kickers 4.
90th Minute: Ihor Dotsenko gets a ball to Bret Myers on the left sideline. Myers dribbles the ball into the box and gets off a shot that is deflected out of bounds by Reiswerg.
