MYRTLE BEACH, SC-The Frederick Keys offense scored six times in the fourth en route to a 10-0 shutout of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Friday night at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Park. On the mound, Cristian Alvarado tossed six shutout innings in his first Carolina League start of 2018.

After scoring twice on a pair of errors in the third inning, the Keys (2-0) sent 10 men to bat in the fourth. Preston Palmeiro kicked things off with a double to left off Jose Paulino. Palmeiro then scored on a single by Chris Clare. Daniel Fajardo made it 5-0 with a second RBI base knock before three straight run scoring singles by Cole Billingsley, Ryan McKenna and Jomar Reyes made it an 8-0 game.

Working with a big lead, Alvarado (1-0) held the Pelicans (0-2) to six hits across six innings. The Venezuelan walked one and struck out six while throwing 91 pitches. It was the first quality start by a Frederick pitcher in 2018.

Paulino (0-1) exited after being hit in the leg by Reyes' RBI single. Hit with the loss, the Pelicans southpaw gave up eight runs (five earned) on seven hits in 3.2 innings. He walked one and struck out one.
