Wichita Stealth News Release
Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth and arenafootball2 today announced that the franchise operations will be taken over by Wichita businessman, David Key effective immediately. The Stealth were previously operated by DP Fox Sports and Entertainment in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who also own the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League.
"I am very pleased to become the new operator of the Wichita Stealth," said Key. "I have been a huge fan of the growing sport of arena football and to become an integral part of its future is very exciting."
This makes the Wichita Stealth the only locally owned professional sports franchise in Wichita. "This truly makes the Wichita Stealth a hometown team," said Stealth general manager, Mike McCoy. "We are very excited about the possibilities that this opens up for the Stealth.
Mr. Key plans to retain all employees of the Stealth and plans on expanding the front office staff. "We will increase the visibility of the Stealth," said Key. "We will be adding staff in order to promote involvement in our community, but our main focus is the upcoming season and the home opener on March 29th.
"The Wichita Stealth is a fantastic team and they currently possess both the players and coaches to make a serious run at ArenaCup 2003," said Key.
"From my meetings with Mr. Key I am very impressed and excited about his involvement with the Stealth," said Stealth head coach Bob Cortese. "I have no doubt in my mind that he will do great things for professional sports in Wichita.
