Kernels Homestand Preview: June 5-10

With only 12 games remaining in the first half of the MWL season, your first-place Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to open a six-game home stand and push for the playoffs! Here's a preview of what you can expect these next six dates:

June 5-7 vs. Quad Cities

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to host the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Midwest League affiliate of the Houston Astros.

You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, June 5th for Free Money Wednesday. The Kernels will give away up to $1,000 to fans as they enter through the gates with the top cash prize being $100. The Kernels welcome guests from Saints Baseball to their night at the ballpark. First pitch between the Kernels and River Bandits is set for 6:35 pm.

It's a Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday where the Kernels take on Quad Cities at 6:35 pm. Get 12 oz. regular draft beer, bottled soda and water for $2.00 all game. Plus, get $1 off margaritas at the Hacienda Las Glorias/La Cantina Mexican Cart. Visit the display for the Great Jones County Fair at Thursday's game as they will be handing out 1,000 free passes to the fair at the main gates. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and River Bandits is set for 6:35 pm.

A big night is on tap for Friday, June 7th when the Kernels take on Quad Cities at 6:35 pm. The first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 5:30 pm get a free bobblehead of Kernels mascot, Mr. Shucks, and the Minnesota Twins mascot, TC Bear. It's also Salvation Army Night as the Kernels will wear special jerseys that will be sold via a silent auction during the game with the proceeds to benefit the Salvation Army. It's also a 98.1 KHAK Kernels Mug Club Friday - buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug for $6.00 and bring it back for refills of soda or regular draft beer for $3.00 all night. Bring your mug back every Friday home game for the same $3.00 refill offer. The game will be broadcast on Mediacom Cable channel 22. First pitch between the Kernels and Quad Cities is set for 6:35 pm.

June 8-10 vs. Kane County

The Kernels continue the six-game home stand with three games against the Kane County Cougars, the Midwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

It's a HUGE night on Saturday, June 8th when the Kernels take on Kane County at 6:35 pm. First, it's Shriners Night as the Shriners will conduct a silent auction and 50/50 raffle during the game. Then, after the game its FIREWORKS, presented by the Eastern Iowa Airport. Boys and girls will receive a sheet of paper to make a paper airplane, and then following the game, they can come throw their paper airplane on the field for a chance to win prizes from the Eastern Iowa Airport. Bring your dog to the ballpark on Sunday, June 9th for Bark in the Park. Each dog will need a 'doggie' ticket to get into the game (along with their owners) and proceeds from all doggie tickets will benefit the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Be here by 1:30 pm to take part in a dog parade on the field prior to the game. It's a 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday where fans can run the bases, play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels players on the field after the game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon and face painting by Kennedy Wilson on the concourse during the game and play Baseball Bingo during the game, presented by Travel Advisors and the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis. It's also a Bike to the Ballpark game. Fans are encouraged to ride their bikes to the ballpark and park in the safe parking provided by New Belgium Brewing. All those riding their bikes to the game and parking inside the stadium will be registered for a 4 pack of tickets to the New Belgium Pavilion outing on August 15th. Gates open at 1:00 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and Cougars is set for 2:05 pm.

The home stand wraps up with a noon game on Monday, June 10th, presented by Z 102.9. Take advantage of our Dollar Monday Specials where regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jacks are each $1. Plus, get $1 tacos (regular or soft shell) at the Hacienda Las Glorias/La Cantina Mexican Cart. The game will be broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports North out of Minneapolis. Gates open at 11 am and first pitch between the Kernels and Kane County is set for 12:05 pm.

104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday: Every Sunday home game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. And after the game, kids (and adults) can run the bases and play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels. Dollar Monday: Regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jacks are each $1 on Monday home games.

Great Clips Twins Tuesday: Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter for a 2 for 1 ticket offer at Tuesday home games as part of Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips. The Kernels will wear replica Twins jerseys and fans can register to win a pair of Twins tickets that will be given away each Tuesday home game.

Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.

Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game.

98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite regular draft beer or soda for just $6.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $3.00. Bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $3.00 refills.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
