DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department have teamed up with the Dayton Dragons to host "Battle of the Badges," a charity softball game, on June 23, 2013 to benefit the CARE House. The Dragons host the Lansing Lugnuts at 4 PM that afternoon and the softball game between Dayton's finest will follow.

"We are very excited to welcome the police officers and firefighters to Fifth Third Field," Dragons President Robert Murphy said. "We look forward to supporting an important Montgomery County institution like the CARE House as we continue our focus on being part of this great community."

The CARE House is a Child Advocacy Center in Montgomery County that serves child victims of the most severe forms of physical and sexual abuse. The center provides a safe and child friendly environment for the children to begin the healing process. Dayton Police Detectives, Children Service workers, Victim Advocates, Social Workers and a Therapist are all located together at the CARE House to ensure a quick and coordinated response to these investigations. CARE House relies on support from the community to be able to provide these services to our most vulnerable victims.

"On behalf of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police, I would like to thank the Dayton Dragons for providing this great venue for the Battle of the Badges," noted Mike Galbraith, President of the Dayton FOP, Chapter 44. "The proceeds from the game will benefit an organization that provides an essential need, to Montgomery County. Enjoy a baseball game and then watch the "other" professionals battle it out for bragging rights as Dayton's Finest."

Chief Herbert Redden commented, "We are honored to partner with the Police Department and the Dayton Dragons to raise funds for an important child advocacy center in our community, the CARE House of Dayton. AND it is our intent to BEAT the Police. GO FIRE!"

Admission to the battle of the badges is free, but both the Dayton Police Department and Dayton Fire Department will be selling Dragons tickets to help raise money for the Care House. Tickets can be purchased at http://daytondragons.com/carehouse using the special offer code, "Care House."

"CARE House is so grateful to Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department and the Dayton Dragons for putting on this fundraiser," said Libby Nicholson, Director of CARE House. "If it weren't for the support of great community partners we wouldn't be able to do the work we do and help kids in Montgomery County."
