SAN ANTNOIO - San Antonio Silver Stars forward Kendra Wecker suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee in her WNBA debut with the 30 seconds remaining in the first half of the Silver Stars game against the Houston Comets on May 21.

After meeting with team doctors this morning an MRI confirmed the tear. Wecker will undergo surgery on June 8 and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Wecker played 11 minutes and scored four points before leaving the game. The Silver Stars first round draft pick (fourth overall) was the 2005 Big 12 Player of the Year and was named a Kodak/WCBA All-American and earned AP All-America First Team honors.

The Silver Stars are back in action on May 24 when they make the trip to Detroit to take on the Shock. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 CT. Fans can tune in and listen to all of the team's 2005 WNBA games on Clear Channel radio stations Ticket 760 AM or KSJL 810 AM with Andrew Monaco calling the action.
