Grand Rapids Drive News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Kelsey Barlow scored a season-high 30 points as the Grand Rapids Drive rallied to beat the Canton Charge 113-111 on Wednesday night in front of 3,011 fans at the DeltaPlex Arena.

Jorge Gutierrez, with the Charge down two points with 6.7 left in the game, drove to the lane, but had his shot blocked by Barlow to end the game.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, improves to 7-8. Canton, whose parent team is the Cleveland Cavaliers, falls to 4-10. The Drive trailed by eight points at halftime.

Barlow, a 6-foot-5 guard out of the University of Illinois-Chicago, was 10-of-14 from the field and drained five 3-pointers. He was followed by Kam Holsey, who had a season-high 21 points and nine rebounds, Dahntay Jones with 18 points and Lorenzo Brown with 13 points and nine assists.

C.J. Wilcox led Canton with 23 points. He was followed by Quinn Cook (18), Gutierrez (16), D.J. Stephens (12), John Holland (11) and Jon Horford, who had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Holsey hit a hook shot and scored eight points during a 22-7 run midway through the third quarter to help Grand Rapids take a 81-73 lead.

Canton went on a 15-2 run - including three 3 pointers - to finish the first half with a 60-52 lead.

Ebanks threw a lob pass to Holsey for a thunderous dunk to give Grand Rapids a 25-23 lead in the first quarter. Canton came down the floor and did the same thing on a pass from Cook to Stephens for a big throwdown.

It didn't take Horford long to make an impression on his new team. The 6-foot-10 center scored the first two field goals of the game for the Charge. Horford, who was signed by Canton on Dec. 20, is familiar with fans in Michigan. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School and played four seasons at the University of Michigan before playing his final season with the University of Florida.

Charge guard Kevin Olekaibe scored on a layup with 1.8 seconds left in the first half and was fouled. But he was injured on the play and had to leave the game before he could complete his free throw. Sir'Dominic Pointer filled in and drained it.

Canton was playing without three of their top four leading scorers. Forward Joe Harris (16.4 points) was recalled by the Cleveland Cavaliers, forward Nick Minnerath (16.5) was not suited up and center Michael Dunigan (12.9) is injured.

Canton returns to play Saturday when it hosts the Raptors 905 for a 7 p.m. game. Grand Rapids doesn't play again until Jan. 2 when it hosts the Erie Bayhawks at 7 p.m.
