Bighorns Rally Back from 17-Point Deficit to Rout Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA - With Bighorns forward Vince Hunter logging his twelfth double-double of the season and Bighorns posting 73 points during the second half in play, the Bighorns defeated the Iowa Energy 127-111 Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA.

The Bighorns were paced by Hunter with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Ricky Ledo netted 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Wednesday night contest as David Stockton notched 20 points, four rebounds and seven assists.

Hunter led the Bighorns in the first quarter with eight points, and three rebounds. Ledo tallied six points and four rebounds in the quarter as Mark Tyndale added five points for the Bighorns. Reggie Hearn, Cliff Hammonds and Erick Green had three points each in the first.

Hunter started his hot streak in the second quarter, netting 12 points as Stockton and Ledo notched four points each.

Going into the locker room at the half, the Bighorns trailed the Energy 68-54.

The Bighorns came out of the locker room with the hot hand, outscoring the Energy 40-24 in the third quarter. Duje Dukan had nine points in the quarter after going 3-4 from the field and 3-4 from behind the arc. Hunter and Ledo tallied eight points and three rebounds each in the third. The Bighorns shot 69.9 percent from the field compared to the Energy shooting 45.5 percent from the field during the quarter.

Hunter led the Bighorns in the final quarter with eight points and five rebounds while Green had eight points and two steals. Stockton followed Green and Hunter closely netting seven points and adding three assists. Ledo totaled six points, two rebounds and two assists in the fourth quarter. The Bighorns went 4-8 (50.0%) from the three-point range compared to the Energy going 1-5 (20.0%) from behind the arc.

The Bighorns outscored the Energy 73-43 in the second half.

The Bighorns return to the Reno Events Center Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. to host the Bakersfield Jam. All fans 12 and under wearing any sports jersey will receive free admission in honor of Youth Sports Night.
