August 2, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

Thursday night the Kelowna Falcons would use 10 innings to beat the Corvallis Knights, the best team in the West Coast League 2-1 and win the three game series.

Both starting pitchers would terrific as Caleb Olson was dialed in for the Falcons through seven and a third innings, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out seven . The Knights' starter Elliot Surrey was equally impressive through seven innings allowing one run on six hits while striking out seven.

The Falcons would score first in the bottom of the fourth inning after loading the bases with one out. Tyler Pentland was hit by a pitch to drive in Robby Witt to give the home side the lead 1-0.

Olson would keep the Knights at bay until the eighth inning when they would score on an RBI sac fly to tie the game.

Jake Phillips would then come out of the pen for the Falcons and was perfect, facing eight batters and retiring all of them.

In the bottom of the 10th inning Scotland Church would lead off with a single before advancing to second on Darren Kolk's slap bunt.

Then with two out, Nathan Robertson hit a slow roller to third base that Cody Lenahan threw away to allow Church to score the game winning unearned run.

The Falcons (17-28) will now embark on their final road trip of the season when they travel through Corvallis (28-17) starting on Saturday, before a three game set in Walla Walla (23-21). The club will return home on Friday August 9th to host the Wenatchee Applesox for a three game series to conclude the season.
