Kelowna Falcons Lose Two to Gems
June 21, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release
Following the heavy rains on Thursday the Kelowna Falcons would forge ahead and host the Klamath Falls Gems in a doubleheader to make up for Wednesday's rain out.
In game one the Falcons would fall 4-1 in seven innings despite scoring first in the bottom of the third inning. Chandler Tracy would knock in Nathan Robertson to record his forth RBI of the young season.
The lead was short lived however as in the top of the fourth inning the Gems would tie it off Falcons' starter Marc Andre Habeck.
Then in the fifth the Gems would break out for a three run inning as Dylan Rogers would collect a two run single.
Habeck threw all seven innings, striking out five in the loss.
In game two, which was also seven innings, the Falcons would suffer a 4-3 setback.
Both teams would score a run in the fourth inning. The Gems would score first in the top of the inning off Falcons starter Austin Rice. In the bottom half Darren Kolk would score an unearned run to tie it.
The Gems would take a 4-1 lead with a single run in the fifth before scoring a pair in the sixth.
In their final at bats in the seventh the Falcons would rally scoring twice. Jarryd Klemm knocked in Grayson Porter with a double, before Preston Gray would bring him in with a base hit.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, who loaded the bases in the first inning and came away with nothing suffered their 10th loss of the year.
The Falcons (2-10) will now hit the road for a weekend series in Bellingham against the Bells (7-4). They will return to Elks Stadium on Monday night when they welcome in division rival Walla Walla Sweets.
