Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Keene Swamp Bats traveled to Holyoke, Massachusetts Saturday night for a rainy ball game against division foe the Valley Blue Sox.
Valley was able to bring runs home early in the game and hold on to their lead for the remainder to defeat the Swamp Bats 5-0 for the second time this season.
The Blue Sox took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after a throwing error by Swamp Bats starting pitcher Lincoln Henzman on a bunt attempt that sailed over Lucas Luopa's head as he attempted to cover first base on the bunt and two runs would come around to score on the play for a 2-0 lead for the Blue Sox.
Valley would add another run in the inning after an RBI single by Blue Sox catcher Dylan Delso that scored Jake Lumley and Valley took a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning.
In the fourth inning Valley would extend their lead on a double by center fielder Garrett McCain driving in third baseman Brian Wilhite after a lead-off walk. At the end of the fourth inning Valley held a 4-0 lead.
Valley would continue to roll from there on as catcher Dylan Delso drove in another run in the seventh inning for a 5-0 lead over Keene. Delso would finish the game 2-4 with 2 RBI's in the game.
Valley pitching controlled the entire game as starter Perry Kulaga pitched seven innings, allowing no runs on six hits and three strikeouts and the bullpen would take over to pitch two more scoreless innings and shut out the Keene Swamp Bats and win by a final score of 5-0.
Keene has the day off on Sunday before traveling to Laconia on Monday to resume a game starting at 5:00 in the thirteenth inning, tied 6-6 with the Muskrats. After the completion of that game, they will play the originally scheduled game at 6:30.
