
Keene Extends Losing Streak to Four in 6-1 Loss to Vermont

Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Keene Swamp Bats hosted the Vermont Mountaineers for the first time this season in a divisional matchup in which Keene lost 6-1 to fall to 4-16 on the year.
Keene has had offensive struggles throughout the season with a team batting average of .206 heading into tonight's game. However, their pitching showed some struggles too today.
Brian Hobbie started for the Swamp Bats, but would be done after the 4th inning allowing six hits and three earned runs.
The Swamp Bats were off to a rough start early when the Mountaineers got things going quickly with a solo home run from Patrick Madigan in the 2nd inning to put Vermont of the board first.
Overall, the Mountaineers would score two runs again in the 4th inning and then three in the 6th inning including a Kevin Stypulkowski solo homerun. Stypulkowski went two-for-five overall in the game with two RBI's.
Connor Sahlin would come in for relief in the 5th inning but would only pitch for 1 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs.
The Swamp Bats struck out ten times and extended their NECBL league worst strikeout totals to 167 today. The Swamp Bats had six total hits today compared to 11 from the Mountaineers.
Dan Celluci was responsible for the one-run for Keene with an RBI single in the 5th inning and went two-for-four overall.
The Swamp Bats are now on a four game losing streak and will look to get things going by hosting the 3-15 Danbury Westerners in game two of a four game home-stand.
