Keene Swamp Bats News Release

KEENE N.H.- The Keene SwampBats drop to 3-6 on the season, falling to the North Adams SteepleCats by a score of 7-2. Colby Dunlop, tonight's starting pitcher, was the hard luck loser, as he went four innings, giving up one earned run while striking out seven. A two out, two run double by North Adams designated hitter Jackson Couts, following a Michael Woodworth error, opened the scoring in the top of the third inning, giving the SteepleCats a 2-0 lead. In the top of the fourth the SteepleCats increased their lead to 3-0 on an RBI single by Matt Koperniak. The SwampBats scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo homerun into the centerfield trees by designated hitter Alex Griffith (Francis Marion).

A grand slam in the top of the seventh by North Adams first baseman Tony Ortiz increased the lead for the SteepleCats by a score of 7-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Joe Breaux (Alabama) hit a groundball to first base that scored Buddy Dewaine from third base. Keene had a chance in the bottom of the ninth to chip away at the deficit after a single to centerfield by SwampBats shortstop Mitchell Golden (Georgia Southern) but three straight SwampBats outs ended the game. Erick Zecha was a bright spot for Keene, as he struck out five of the six batters he faced in two innings in relief.

The SwampBats next game is on the road Sunday, June 17th against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats. First pitch is at 6:05, and you can listen to the game on FM 104.1 AM 1220 Fox Sports Keene.
