Keene Swamp Bats News Release

The ball was flying left and right at Alumni Field on Tuesday night where the Valley Blue Sox defeated the Keene Swamp Bats for the third time this season by a score of 11-10.

Keene had a late comeback in the ninth inning, scoring four runs, but was unable to push the tying run across the plate with runners left on first and third.

In the top of the second inning the Blue Sox took the lead off of an RBI single by Rob Pescitelli and that was followed by a double that drove in two more runs by first baseman Caleb Eldridge to give Valley a 3-0 lead.

Keene would answer in the bottom of the second with two runs on a two-run homerun by left fielder Anthony Brocato and the score was 3-2 in favor of Valley.

The Blue Sox took the lead once again in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI triple by Jake Lumley and he later scored on an RBI single by catcher Dylan Delso. Valley would take a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth.

Once again Keene responded. Two home runs in the inning, one by Connor Foreman and also a two-run shot by Larry Crisler and the game was all knotted up at 5.

Valley was able to jump on top again in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Clay Payne that scored Manny De Jesus from third base, giving the Blue Sox a 6-5 lead. They would add to that with an RBI double for Pescitelli and increased the lead to 7-5.

Keene would gain a run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Valley came right back in the eighth and blew open the game by scoring four runs on multiple singles to take an 11-6 lead.

Keene's ninth inning comeback fell short, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning and losing by a score of 11-10. Swamp Bat pitching would give up 16 hits on top of the 11 runs.

Keene falls to 3-12 on the season and is away Wednesday night against the New Bedford Bay Sox with first pitch at 6:30.
