LONG BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 7, 2004) - The American Basketball Association (ABA) Long Beach Jam signed point guard Kazuyuki "Kazu" Nakagawa today.

As a four-year standout at Senshu University, the 5-foot-11 guard led his team to Japan's Final Four in his freshman season. In his sophomore year, his team won the Kanto Basketball Tournament with Nakagawa taking Most Valuable Player honors. That same year, Senshu took the championship in the All Japan College Basketball Tournament.

In his junior season, Nakagawa was named to the tournament First Team's of both the Kanto Basketball Tournament and the Kanto Basketball League. In his senior season, Nakagawa received the MVP Award in the Kanto Basketball Tournament as his team won the tournament.

Nakagawa will carry on the Jam's tradition of having a Japanese point guard run the offense. Last season's squad boasted current Denver Nugget, Yuta Tabuse.

Nakagawa, Head Coach Nate "Tiny" Archibald and President Steve Chase will hold a press conference before Friday's 7:30 game at the Pyramid against the Portland Reign.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
