Maywood Laguneros News Release
Maywood, CA. The Maywood Laguneros of the American Basketball Association announced today that Pooh Richardson will be their Head Coach for the 2005 season. A first round draft pick out of UCLA in 1989, Pooh eventually made a home for himself with the NBA Los Angeles Clippers.
"It's great having an opportunity to coach here in Los Angeles. As a player, the city has always been an integral part," Ricardson said.
Laguneros President Jonathan Hernandez was enthusiastic about Richardson's arrival. "Not only are we trying to build an organization that will have a strong fan appeal, but we are also trying to put together the most competitive team possible. We have no doubt that Pooh can deliver for us on both objectives."
General Manager Tomas Gillespie added that Richardson will contribute immensely given his career as a player. "If you look at his statistics, you will see that he continually and consistently played high caliber basketball throughout his career. I cannot think of anyone better to teach the young players not only how to play fundamentally sound basketball, but to have the drive of a champion."
The Laguneros tip off their 2005 season on November 6th against the Valley Legends at the Maywood Community Center. For more information, visit www.maywoodlaguneros.com (going online today) or email maywoodlaguneros@gmail.com or call 909 964 0800 or visit www.abalive.com. -
