Nashville Kats News Release

NASHVILLE (Feb. 28, 2006) - Nashville Kats defensive specialist Khalil Carter has been selected as the AFL's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance against the Grand Rapids Rampage last Saturday night. Carter posted 11 tackles, an interception and two pass breakups in the Kats' 47-31 home victory.

Carter (6-2, 195) is in his fourth AFL season and second with Nashville. He was named second-team All-Arena at defensive specialist last season after picking off six passes on the year.

The veteran from Arkansas becomes the third Kats player to earn league player of the week honors so far this season. Lineman Frank Carter was named ADT Defensive Player of the Week after he tallied four sacks in the week one win at New York, and WR/DB Cornelius Bonner was chosen as the AFL's Ironman of the Week for his all-around performance in the win over Columbus in week two.

Carter joined Dallas WR/DB Will Pettis (Ironman of the Week) and Tampa Bay QB Shane Stafford (Offensive Player of the Week) as players of the week for last weekend's games.

The Kats (4-1) play at Arizona on Saturday night at 8 p.m. CT. A win will guarantee Nashville at least a share of first place in the AFL's Central Division, and would give the team its best six-game start in franchise history.
