Germaine named Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week
February 28, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
Utah Blaze quarterback Joe Germaine no doubt dreamed about a moment like he had Saturday. With just seconds to go in the game against the L.A. Avengers, Germaine hit receiver Orshawante Bryant for a 12-yard touchdown to give Utah the 68-66 win.
After fumbling the ball that led to an Avengers TD to open the game 7-0, Germaine atoned on his next possession with a one-yard touchdown run to knot the score at 7-7.
Germaine was up for AFL Offensive Player of the Week honors, going 31 of 40 for 387 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception in the game. He also added a rushing touchdown.
This is Germaine's second season in the AFL after starting six games for the Arizona Rattlers last season. The Blaze are now 2-3 overall, but hold the lead in the American Western Conference at 2-1.
