Wizards to Open Versus D.C. United on March 29, 2008 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in KCK
The Kansas City Wizards will open 2008 regular-season play at temporary home CommunityAmerica Ballpark Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. CT against Eastern-Conference rivals D.C. United. Kansas City played United in their first match of 2007, defeating the eventual Supporters' Shield winners 4-2 at RFK Stadium. Kansas City went 1-1-1 against United in 2007.
Burciaga to Hold Foundation Fundraiser Thursday
Kansas City Wizards defender Jose Luis Burciaga will host a fundraiser for his charity, the Jose Luis Burciaga Foundation, Thursday, December 13, beginning at 7 p.m. at El Patron in Kansas City. Burciaga and other members of the Wizards will be at the event.
Tickets to the event cost $40, with all proceeds supporting underprivileged youth. Guests will receive dinner and an opportunity to taste various Mexican beers as part of their donation.
Season Ticket Holders Participate in Select-a-Seat Week Through Saturday
Season ticket holders will be able to select 2008 seats each day from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at CAB. Fans will arrive at the stadium for a first-hand look at the Wizards temporary home field and then choose their seats. Current season ticket holders have received appointment times from the Wizards front office based on initial purchase date.
If fans cannot make their appointment at CAB, they are encouraged to call their account managers directly. Seat selections can also be made in person at CAB or by phone anytime AFTER the scheduled appointment time. Five-game and 10-game ticket package holders and anyone else interested in Kansas City Wizards season ticket packages are encouraged to attend seat selection to get a feel for CAB. Five-game and 10-game plan holders will choose their seats Feb. 27, 2008.

Wizards Swope Park Training Center, Meyer Brothers Building Company Recognized for Excellence
Meyer Brothers Building Company was recognized last week by the Heart of America Chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors for their outstanding work on the Kansas City Wizards new, state-of-the-art training center inside Swope Park. The training center will be featured in the December 14 issue of the Kansas City Business Journal.
"We want to thank Meyer Brothers Building Company for their outstanding work on our Swope Park Training Center and congratulate them on the honor they received last week. In particular, I would like to thank Greg Fitzsimmons, Dino Simmermon and Richard Breck for their dedication and quality work on our project," Wizards Vice President of Development David Ficklin said. "Our Swope Park Training Center is the class of Major League Soccer training facilities. This is the first of what we believe will be many world-class facilities OnGoal will be developing in Kansas City."
At an awards banquet last Thursday, Meyer Brothers received the "Excellence in Construction Award" in the $1 million to $5 million Commercial Building category. Dedicated July 13, the Swope Park Training Center has become the home training facility of the Kansas City Wizards and is used by Brookside Soccer Club and the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
The facility currently contains two first-class practice fields, a locker room, weight-training facilities, a treatment room, a player lounge and technical staff offices. Plans call for expansion at a later date.
Meyer Brothers employee Dino Simmermon received ABC's Certificate of Outstanding Field Leadership as Project Manager, and Site Manager Richard Brekck received ABC's Cerfiicate of Outstanding Field Leadership as Site Manager for their work on the facility.

Holiday Store at Ward Parkway Center Open Through January
The Kansas City Wizards have opened a holiday kiosk at Ward Parkway Center through Sunday, January 6. Merchandise (including the popular personalized Wizards jerseys), gift cards, ticket packages and other Wizards information will be available during regular shopping-center hours.
Fans are able to customize Wizards jerseys on site and buy gift cards redeemable at 2008 Wizards home games, for merchandise or tickets. Merchandise from other MLS clubs and special events such as the 2007 Sierra Mist All-Star Game will be available.

Wizards Merchandise Now Available at Eight Area Retailers
Beginning this weekend, Kansas City Wizards merchandise will be available at eight area retailers. Sports Nutz at the Legends will begin carrying Wizards gear Saturday, December 15. The Kansas City T-Bones Store, also at the Legends, will carry merchandise as early as next week.
