KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current have recalled goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz from her loan to the Brisbane Roar of the Liberty A-League in Australia. She will re-join the club after playing her final A-League game Friday, March 8 at 11 p.m. CT.
"We felt confident that Jordan would get some great playing experience with Brisbane," said general manager Camille Ashton. "Her time with the Roar played an important role for her continued growth as a professional. We want to thank Brisbane for working with us as we bring her back to Kansas City for the beginning of the 2024 NWSL season."
Silkowitz played 18 matches for the Roar with five wins and five draws, including three clean sheets. She was fourth in the league with 71 saves and led the entire A-League with 379 completed passes.
Silkowitz was selected by the Current in the second round (18th overall) in the 2023 NWSL Draft. The first player ever drafted out of Iowa State, Silkowitz started her collegiate career as a Big 10 All-Freshman Team goalkeeper at Ohio State University, she transferred to Iowa State in 2020 where she started all 43 games she was available for over the next three years. Silkowitz finished with 324 career saves for the Cyclones, fifth all-time for the school.
The Current are in the final week of preseason training as the club prepares to open the 2024 NWSL regular season in the first stadium in the world purpose-built for women's professional sports, CPKC Stadium. The Current will face the Portland Thorns March 16 with a national broadcast on ABC, beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT.
