Kansas City Current Announces Partnership with Functional Soda Brand OLIPOP
April 18, 2023 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Kansas City Current News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current is proud to welcome functional soda brand OLIPOP as an official partner for the 2023 season. The Kansas City Current Training Complex will stock OLIPOP drinks and host samplings for the team to try different flavors throughout the season. OLIPOP will also become the first soda brand to affiliate with the Current, receiving official partner status along with the use of marks, in-game signage, hospitality, social posts and more.
"OLIPOP is a perfect fit for the Current as we continue to grow our food and beverage partners," said Kansas City Current team president Allison Howard. "Their focus on healthy, delicious drinks matches the values and innovative approach of our club. We are thrilled to welcome OLIPOP to the team."
OLIPOP was created by beverage entrepreneurs Ben Goodwin and David Lester, who set out to create a functional soda-one with the same familiar flavor profiles we all know and love but upgraded with digestive health benefits. Every can of OLIPOP has 50 calories (or less), contains two to five grams of natural sugars, and provides nine grams of prebiotic plant fiber.Since launching in 2018, the brand has disrupted the beverage industry and amassed widespread appeal for its tasty, nostalgia-infused flavors and proprietary gut-friendly formulation-proving that delicious taste and health are not mutually exclusive. As of the end of March, OLIPOP is the fastest growing refrigerated functional beverage in America.
"We're thrilled to announce our first major sports sponsorship with the Current," said Steven Vigilante, OLIPOP's Director of Growth. "The organization is incredibly forward thinking, from the Ownership group down to the players on the field. Our goal has always been to go toe-to-toe with legacy soda brands in places like sports stadiums and arenas, and this is our first major step in that direction. We look forward to supporting the team's mission of promoting nutrition both on and off the field."
The Kansas City Current travels to Houston on April 19 to take on the Dash in the club's first match in the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup. Catch all of the action by listening in on the KC Current App, available for free from the Apple or Google Play store. The team returns to Children's Mercy Park on April 23, when the Current takes on the Orlando Pride. Season tickets, flex plans and single match tickets are available for all home matches at Children's Mercy Park. For pricing and information, visit kansascitycurrent.com.
