Kangas Earns USHL Honors For Second Time

Sioux Falls, SD-- Sioux Falls Stampede goaltender Alex Kangas has been named Let's Play Hockey/USHL Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season after stopping 63 of 64 shots in two games last week, including a 34 save shutout of the Des Moines Buccaneers last Thursday. Kangas becomes the first player in the league to win the award twice this season.

The Rochester, MN native is the top goaltender in the USHL with a 12-1-0 record, a 1.68 GAA and a .947 save percentage. He heads into the break winning his last 11 starts, a new franchise record. His 12 wins ranks him second in the league behind Alex Stalock of Cedar Rapids.

The Stampede have the week off to spend the holidays with their families and will return to action next Wednesday, December 28th at Sioux City. The Herd return to the Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday, December 31st against Tri-City. Game time on New Year's Eve is 6:05 PM and tickets are still available.
