
Gamblers Enter Break on Winning Note

Green Bay Gamblers News Release
The Green Bay Gamblers head into the Christmas break fresh off a 5-2 win over the Tri City Storm on Sunday at the Resch Center. The win came on the heels of a 4-3 overtime loss to Cedar Rapids on Friday night at the Resch. The Gamblers head into the break with a 12-13-3 mark, which places them in third place in the USHL Eastern Division.

RoughRiders forward Chad Costello scored a pair of first period goals to give Cedar Rapids a 2-0 lead.
Gamblers forward Mike Sislo brought Green Bay to within a goal when he scored in the final minute of the first period (19:12)
Green Bay tied the game in the second period on a power play goal by Kevin Deeth (7:05).
Cedar Rapids regained the lead when Gary Steffes scored at the 19:31 mark of the second period.
Green Bay team captain Tyler Lehrke notched the equalizer midway through the third period (11:39), when defenseman Justin Bruan's slap shot deflected off his skate past Cedar Rapids goaltender Pat McGann.
In the extra session, Ted Purcell found Nik Sellers behind the Gamblers defense. Sellers came off the left wing strong to the net and beat Green Bay goaltender Max Strang between the legs (:48).
Strang, who came into the game 4-0-0 in his last five starts, made 37 saves in the overtime loss.
Gamblers forward Sean Backman continued to be the Tri City Storm's worst nightmare, scoring a pair of goals to lead Green Bay to a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon at the Resch Center.
In two games verse Tri City, Backman has six goals on eight shots
Sandwiched in between Backman's two first period tallies (4:04 & 19:37), was a power play goal by Brian Roloff (7:27).
The Gamblers power play, which went 1-for-2 in the hockey game, is eclipsing at a success rate of 29.41% in their last six games.
Kevin Deeth (9:35) and Sergio Somma (16:09), who also had an assist in the game, tallied third period goals to put the game on ice.
Goaltender Dan Rosen made 26 saves for his eighth win of the season.

GAMBLERS RELEASE WELCH The Gamblers announced on Thursday that they have released forward Joe Welch. The Hastings, Minnesota native appeared in 17 games with the Gamblers this season, tallying one goal. In 30 career games with the Gamblers, Welch had two goals and one assist. Welch will continue his hockey career in the North American Hockey League with the Southern Minnesota Express, which is home to former Gamblers Stu Bickel and Jeff Carlson. . DEHNER-MITE Gambler defenseman Jeremy Dehner has 13 points (1g &12a) in his last nine games. The Madison, Wisconsin native ranks fifth among all USHL defenseman in scoring with 16 points (2g & 14a). Green Bay will be without Dehner's services until January 6, as he will be representing the United States at the Viking Cup in Camrose, Alberta (December 26 - January 2).
KICKING UP A STORM Green Bay rookie forward Sean Backman has had field day against Tri City this season. In two games verse the Storm, Backman has six goals. On the season, Backman has 14 goals, which is tied for tops on the Gamblers and ranks second among all USHL rookies.
OVERPOWERED The Gamblers power play is eclipsing at a success rate 29.41% (10/34) in their last six games. On the season, Green Bay's power play is operating at 17.07% (21/123).
INJURY REPORT Forward Greg Beller was put back on the Injured Reserve list after he re-injured his left clavicle in Green Bay's game verse Chicago on Tuesday, November 29. Beller, who appeared in three regular season games, recording a goal, has returned to his hometown of Rainy River, Ontario. No timeline has been set on his return to the Gamblers line-up.
