Kamloops Defeats Spokane 4-2

Despite outshooting the Kamloops Blazers 42-32 on Saturday night the Spokane Chiefs dropped a 4-2 decision in their first home game since November 12th. The loss was just the third at home for the Chiefs in 13 home games.

Kamloops scored first with a power play goal at 2:59 of the third with a goal by Jimmy Bubnick. Tyler Johnson tied it up for the Chiefs at 8:07 with assists coming from Jared Spurgeon and Levko Koper. Cole Grbavak gave the Blazers a 2-1 lead after one when he tallied at 18:20.

Kamloops scored the only goal of the second when Bubnick scored his second of the night at 3:51 and then pushed it to 4-1 at 4:28 of the third.

Twenty-seconds later Jared Spurgeon scored his first of the season with assists coming from Drayson Bowman and Mitch Wahl. The Chiefs had a goal waved off later in the third when it was ruled that it went in off the glove of Spokane's Seth Compton.

Dustin Tokarski made 28 saves and the Chiefs were 7-8 on the penalty kill.

Saturday's game is the first of three straight in the Arena. Spokane will host the Calgary Hitmen, the first place team in the Central Division, on Wednesday night on TicketsWest Player Magnet Wednesday.

During the intermissions Charlie McInerney of Spokane won a trip for two to see the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings in Molson's "See the 'Other' Champs" giveaway. McInerney signed up at the Molson Canadian Display at the Indian Trail Yokes.
