Vancouver Giants News Release
CHILLIWACK BC - The Vancouver Giants were not about to let history repeat itself, scoring three times in the first period en route to a 5-1 pounding of the Chilliwack Bruins in the Fraser Valley.
It was back in the Fraser Valley on November 11th where the Giants (21-1-0-3) suffered their one and so far only regulation defeat of the season. Vancouver would fall 3-2 to the Bruins by having a sub-par first period, which led to three first period goals by the Bruins, pacing them to their victory.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Craig Cunningham and Lance Bouma would score in the first period as the Giants would out play and outscore the Bruins at every turn, outshooting Chilliwack 15-2 in the opening frame. Captain Jonathon Blum would score in the second while Cunningham would add his second of the game in the third to round out the scoring for the Giants. David Robinson would be the only Bruin to light the lamp, scoring on Tyson Sexsmith late in the second period. Sexsmith was also sharp, facing eighteen shots in the victory, but thwarting Chilliwack's young gun Ryan Howse on two separate breakaways to keep the Bruins at bay. Sexsmith moves his record to 14-1-0-1 on the season with the victory.
The Giants get right back to it on Saturday, travelling to Kennewick, WA, to take on the Tri City Americans. The pregame show on AM 650 begins at 6:30 pm, with the drop of the puck at the Toyota Center at 7 pm.
