Kalamazoo Wins Second Preseason Game

Adrian, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings were dominant yet again in their second preseason contest, as this time, they skated to a 5-1 victory over the ACHA Adrian Bulldogs.

After going fourteen minutes and ten seconds without a goal in the first period, Kalamazoo broke a scoreless tie, and got on the score sheet with Jesse Junttila's first of the preseason. His late first period goal came with assists by Patrick Spellacy and Davis DeKorte.

With under a minute to play in the first, DeKorte increased the lead to 2-0 with his second tally of the preseason.

The Jr. K-Wings outshot the Bulldogs 16-10 over the course of the first twenty minutes.

Midway through the second, with his team trailing by a goal, Adrian's Senate Patton notched his first of the preseason, and made the score 2-1.

Striking back just a few minutes later, the Jr. K-Wings took a 3-1 lead on the first of the preseason by Christian George. Junttila assited on the goal for his second point of the game, while Matt Wurst added an assist as well.

It only took 34 seconds of play in the third for Kalamazoo to establish a three-goal lead. Danny Hamburg (1st) lit the lamp on a tally that was assisted by line mate Christian George.

Adding to the lead was Trevor Boyd (1st), who scored 10:04 into the third period, getting helpers from Josh Dangle and Kyle Ware. The 5-1 lead would last until the end of regulation.

The Jr. K-Wings will return to the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West for another pre-season contest against the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies club team on Saturday, September 8th. The puck is set to drop from Kalamazoo at 2 p.m.
