Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League made a roster move prior to the team's first exhibition game that is set for Thursday night.
The Bulls announced today (Wednesday) that they have traded defenseman Zane Popilock to the Brookings Blizzard.
"It's a tough decision that we have to make as coaches," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "But we feel this is the right move to help grow Zane's hockey career at this time. We know he'll do a great job up there. Zane came to us from the USHL a year and a half ago. He's been through a lot of wins and back-to-back trips to the Robertson Cup. We hope he can bring some of the things that we taught him up to Brookings and help with their success."
In 59 games in a Bulls' uniform, the Collegeville, PA native had one goal and eight assists for nine points. He was plus eight with 131 penalty minutes and 74 total shots on goal.
"Zane brought speed, strength, toughness to the defense," Williams added. "He was a perfect teammate and that's why this was a difficult decision to make. It was in his best interest to start a new chapter in his junior hockey career, and catapult him to become an NCAA Division I athlete."
Hockey is back at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center on Thursday and Friday night as the Amarillo Bulls host the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7 pm. Tickets are just $5 when purchased at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk in the Amarillo Civic Center.
