Kalamazoo to Participate in Read Across America

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League's North Division, announce their participation in National Read Across America Day.

Eight players will be attending North Middle School in Portage to read to and speak to 6th-8th grade students at the school.

Aside from reading to the students, the Jr. K-Wings will be speaking about motivation, the importance of practice, school and hard work. All Portage public elementary and middle schools were invited to participate in this event.

There will be two different sessions of participation for the Jr. K-Wings, starting with the morning session that will see forwards Brock Raffaele and Brandon Flood, as well as defenseman, Matt Lanzillotti working with the students.

The mid-day session will include forwards Kyle Gattelaro, Christian George, andDanny Hamburg, as well as defenseman Anthony Appleyard, and goalie Alex Okicki.

The Jr. K-Wings will be at home during every weekend in the month of March. All games are played at the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West, starting at 2 p.m. with tickets always just five dollars at the door.
