December 1, 2012 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release

Janesville, WI - In a game full of penalties, Janesville was able to make the most of their opportunities by scoring three power play goals. Kalamazoo was less successful as they went 0 for 7 on their power play attempts and 0 for 26 on shots overall, as Brock Kautz was able to record the shutout.

It didn't take long for the scoring to begin on Saturday night. At the 3:44 mark in the first, Ryan Dau (1st) was able to take advantage of the Janesville power play and obtain the early lead over Kalamazoo.

Like the first period, the second period saw an early goal by the Jets. With 17:22 reaming in the period, leading scorer, Jason Ford, was able to drive home a wrist shot for his 11th goal on the season and gave the Jets a 2-0 lead over the Jr. K-Wings. His goal came shortly after the Jets were able to kill the Jr. K-Wing power play.

A major penalty and a game ejection was given to Janesville's Ruslan Pedan for a hit to the head of Josh Dangel at 13:08, and Kalamazoo had a five minute power play. Not only was Kalamazoo unable to capitalize on the power play, but they gave up a shorthanded goal to Eric Cruickshank (2nd). Cruickshank's goal was set up by a perfectly timed pass in front of the net by Jordan Himley.

The third period started just like the other two: with a quick Janesville Jet goal. Only 1:37 into the third, former Jr. K-Wing, Donovan Gardiner (1st) got a power play goal against his old team and increasing the lead to 4-0.

With just 2:05 left in the game, the Jets put the final nail in the coffin. Ryan Dau was able to capitalize on yet another power play and score his second goal of the night. This goal extended the Jet lead to 5-0 as the final minutes ticked off the clock.

This loss ended the 4 game winning streak by Kalamazoo. Janesville and Kalamazoo have now split their season series, with each team winning two games. These teams will meet four more times this season.
