The Brookings Blizzard have fallen on the road, 5-3, to the Coulee Region Chill in a Friday night matchup. The loss is the sixth straight for the Blizzard who now hold a 13-10 record, after starting the season 13-4.

It was a tale of two halves. The Blizzard got off to a strong start in the first period when Tyler Cayemberg scored with 5:37 remaining. Justin Moody had the assist. Then just 58 seconds into the second period Drew Brevig scored again for the Blizzard, who took a 2-0 lead. Thomas Williams and Vsevold Kramerev were given the assist.

The Chill got onto the scoreboard at the 7:22 mark of the second period, but the Blizzard answered when Eric Brenk capitalized on the power play to extend the Blizzard lead 3-1.

Eddie Matsushima scored his first of two goals in the game for the Chill and the Blizzard went into the locker room with a 3-2 lead after two periods.

The Blizzard, how have played well in the third periods this season, came out flat in the final 20 minutes. The Chill scored three goals in the final frame including a power play goal at the 4:04 mark, Jake Kauppila, and an empty net goal in the final minute, Matsushima. Mac Jansen, who has played his best games against the Blizzard this season, seven points in six games, got the game winner.

The Blizzard are off tonight but will be back in action next Friday in the SoDak Shootout against the Aberdeen Wings. It is puck giveaway night sponsored by Dacotah Bank. Game at the Larson Ice Center will start at 7:00pm.
