
Barber Records Natural Hat Trick

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Forward Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) recorded a natural hat trickFriday, but it wasn't enough for the Wenatchee Wild, who fell to the visitingJohnstown Tomahawks in overtime, 4-3.
The Wild found themselves down 2:05 into the contest whenAndrew McDonald staked the Tomahawks to an early 1-0 lead on a feed from ZachWallace.
Goals were bound to start adding up for Barber, and that'sexactly what happened Friday, starting at the 11:51 mark of the first framewhen he lit the lamp to force the first tie of the contest. Brian Williams (San Diego, Calif.) and Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia)assisted.
Barber got back to work less than two minutes into thesecond period, when he tickled the twine on a feed from Kerr to give Wenatcheeits first lead of the contest. However, Johnstown took a 3-2 lead into thelocker room at the second intermission after McDonald scored a short-handedmarker at 11:12 and Mitch Kontny scored an unassisted goal at 13:37.
Barber answered the bell one more time, scoring his thirdgoal of the game, this one unassisted, for a natural hat trick a little overthree minutes into the third period.
The Tomahawks prevailed in overtime, however, earning thewin when Mike Sandor found the back of the net 53 seconds into the extrasession.
Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) made 25 saves on 29 shots for the Wild. Goaltender Chris Truehlmade 34 saves on 37 shots for the Tomahawks.
Neither team scored on the power play. Wenatchee went0-for-2 on its man-advantages while Johnstown went 0-for-1 in a rather cleangame.
Barber led the Wild with three goals while Kerr notched twoassists. McDonald led the Tomahawks with a pair of goals.
The Wild (16-4-1) will try to get back on track against theJohnstown Tomahawks Saturday. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Town ToyotaCenter.
