Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League's North Division, are proud to announce the addition of defenseman, Sam Johnson.

Johnson, a Dallas, Texas native, is a 20-year-old veteran defenseman, who has been added to the Kalamazoo roster after being traded from the Amarillo Bulls.

The 6-1, 200 pound blue liner will be suiting up for his third NAHL team when he skates with the Jr. K-Wings, which should be as early as this Saturday against the Michigan Warriors. Johnson spent last season with Wenatchee for 34 games, where he tallied ten points, and played to a +10 rating.

He was then moved to Amarillo, where he played nine games, picking up two assists. Johnson started this season with the Bulls, playing in four games, and notching two assists. Over the course of his career, he has played to a +16 rating. Johnson also has five games of playoff experience to his name; all of those games were with Amarillo.

"Sam is a physical and reliable defender," noted Kalamazoo head coach, Marc Fakler. "(He) will add size and veteran leadership to our defense."

The Jr. K-Wings will hit the ice again on Saturday, October 6th at 2:00 p.m. in Kalamazoo, as they are set to square off for two straight against the Michigan Warriors.
