
K-Tribe Falls to Myrtle Beach 10-6

Myrtle Beach hit four home runs on their way to a 10-6 win Thursday night at Historic Grainger Stadium. With the loss, Kinston split the four game series with Myrtle Beach.
The Pelicans jumped all over Kinston starter Bryan Price, with home runs in each of the first three innings. Ernesto Mejia hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, capping off a four-run frame. Myrtle Beach would extend their lead with three more runs in the second inning, capped off by a two-run home run from Donell Linares. The Pelicans extended their lead to 8-0 with a solo home run from Cody Johnson, his Carolina League leading 29th home run of the season.
Kinston mounted a comeback in the bottom of the third, thanks to an RBI single by Cord Phelps and a two-run home run by Ole Sheldon. The big hit was the tenth home run of the season for Sheldon, cutting the Pelican lead to five.
Bats on both sides would stay silent until the bottom of the eighth inning. Kinston cut the lead to two with RBI's from Ronald Rivas, Alex Castillo and Roman Pena, making the score 8-6. After a 17 minute delay in the top of the ninth due to a lighting malfunction, Myrtle Beach would get the power going again with a two-run home run by Gerry Rodriguez, putting the Pelicans up 10-6
The K-Tribe now hits the road for a short three game series at Wilmington. Game time 7:05 pm Friday night in Delaware, Paolo Espino will take the mound for the Indians. The K-Tribe will then return home for their final homestand of the season on Monday.
