
K-Hawks Grant, Toll and Williams Named NLL All-Pros

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward John Grant and transition player Steve Toll have been named National Lacrosse League First Team All-Pros. Forward Shawn Williams was also selected to the league' Second Team. Rochester Rattlers Colin Doyle (San Jose), Casey Powell (New York) and Gavin Prout (Colorado) were also named to the Second Team.
Grant has now been honored as a league All-Pro seven times in his eight-year career. He had a banner year in 2007, capturing his first National Lacrosse League points title with 111, including winning the goal-scoring title with 51. The Peterborough, Ontario, native is also sixth all-time in league history in points (719) and goals (347), and seventh in assists (372).
Toll was named the Transition Player of the Year this season. He finished third in the league with 177 loose balls. Toll is in his 10th season of professional lacrosse and third with Rochester. In 2004, he was acquired from the San Jose Stealth for a first and second-round pick in the 2005 National Lacrosse League Draft. He spent the majority of his career in Toronto with the Rock, winning championships in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003. The RIT product was also a member of the 2007 East Division NLL All-Star Team. The All-Pro selection is the first of his career.
Williams finished fifth in the league in scoring with a career-high 91 points (36+55). The Rochester forward is second in team history with 481 points and is also second in goals (212) and assists (269). Williams is also ninth in goals in NLL history with 298. The All-Pro selection is the second of his career.
Prout garnered Second Team accolades. He scored the sixth highest number of points in the league with 89 this season, on 30 goals and 59 assists. His 59 assists were the fourth highest in the league in 2007. The veteran also scored 11 power-play goals and two shorthanded goals and collected 85 loose balls.
Doyle joined Prout as a Second Team member. He sparked a Stealth turnaround that saw the team go from 5-11 last season to 9-7 this year. Doyle finished tied for fourth in the league with 59 assists and he added 22 goals for 81 points. His 81 points was good for 13th in the league. Doyle scored nine power-play goals and two shorthanded goals and collected 58 loose balls this season. It is the fifth Second Team All-Pro honor of Doyle's career. Doyle also previously has three First Team honors, including NLL MVP in 2005.
Powell was also named to the Second Team. He served as the captain of the expansion New York Titans, helping the expansion team to four wins in their first NLL season. Powell scored 29 goals and added 51 assists for 80 points, playing 13 games for New York. He also scored eight power-play goals and collected 90 loose balls. It is the first All-Pro selection of Powell's career.
The Rochester Knighthawks battle the Arizona Sting in the National Lacrosse League's Champion's Cup Finals on Saturday, May 12th at 4:00 p.m. The 2007 NLL Championship Game, presented by Edge Active Care, will air live on VERSUS across the U.S. Rogers Sportsnet will also televise the game tape delay in all regions at 7:00 p.m. Fans in Rochester can also catch the game on WYSL 1040-AM, wysl1040.com, the B2 Networks and SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
