
Jupiter Sweeps Dunedin in Six Games with 3-1 Victory on Sunday Afternoon

The Jupiter Hammerheads (15-6) complete their first ever six-game series sweep with a 3-1 victory over the Dunedin Blue Jays (9-12) on Sunday afternoon at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The Hammerheads also extended their winning streak to seven games and remain in first place in the FSL East division. Meanwhile, Dunedin had their losing streak extended to nine games.
Jupiter got on the scoreboard first in the contest. In the bottom of the second inning, Brock Vradenburg led off with a single and later stole second base. Two batters later, Colby Shade drove in the game's first run on an RBI single. Later with the bases loaded and one out, Cristhian Rodriguez extended the lead with a sacrifice fly scoring Shade to make it 2-0 in favor of the Hammerheads.
Meanwhile on the mound, Jupiter starter Jake Brooks (W, 3-0) fired six shutout innings with five hits, three walks, and struck out three Blue Jays hitters. He left six runners on base to escape jams in his outing.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hammerheads added one more run for insurance. With one out, Vradenburg hit his second single of the day and also stole second and third base. Shade promptly drove in Vradenburg on his second RBI single of the day making it a 3-0 ballgame.
Jupiter ran into a little bit of trouble in the top of the seventh. Dunedin loaded the bases with two outs thanks to two hits and a walk off of Chris Mokma. Xavier Meachem came in relief and Edward Duran would reach on a fielding error by Meachem allowing the lone Blue Jays run to score to make it 3-1.
Meachem would get the final out in the seventh inning as well as pitch a scoreless eighth inning. Juan Reynoso (Sv, 1) worked out of trouble in a scoreless top of the ninth inning to complete the save and seal the series sweep of Dunedin. Vradenburg finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Shade went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Over the seven-game win streak, Hammerheads pitchers have thrown a combined 64 innings, allowed 13 runs/8 earned with a 1.13 ERA and have recorded 78 strikeouts. The seven-game win streak is also the longest active win streak in all of minor league baseball.
After the off day on Monday, the Hammerheads will take their win streak on the road to begin a six-game series against the St. Lucie Mets beginning Tuesday, April 30. Jupiter will return home on Tuesday, May 7 when they face the Palm Beach Cardinals for the start of a six-game homestand.
