Jupiter Hammerheads Coaching Staff Returns For 2013 Season

JUPITER, Fla. - The Miami Marlins have announced the coaching staff for the Class-A Advanced Affiliate Jupiter Hammerheads. Jupiter welcomes back most of the coaching staff from the 2012 season, including manager Andy Haines. Rejoining Haines will be pitching coach Joe Coleman, hitting coach Corey Hart, first base coach Rigoberto Silverio and trainer Patrick Amorelli. Shaun Alexander joins the staff in his first season as the Hammerheads' strength and conditioning coach.

This season marks Haines' sixth in the Marlins' organization. In his first year with Jupiter, Haines led the Hammerheads to a 74-62 record and the 2012 Florida State League South Division Championship. He spent the previous two years managing the Greensboro Grasshoppers, leading them to the South Atlantic League Championship in 2011. Haines managed the Jamestown Jammers in 2009, following a one-year stint as the hitting coach for the Gulf Coast Marlins. Haines got his professional coaching start in 2005 as the hitting/third base coach for the Gary South Shore RailCats of the independent Northern League. In 2007, Haines led the Windy City Thunderbolts to the Frontier League Championship and was named Manager of the Year.

The Eastern Illinois University undergrad, Haines earned his master's from Middle Tennessee State where he also spent three years as the assistant coach.

Coleman returns to the Hammerheads for his second season in the Marlins' organization. Prior to 2012, Coleman spent five seasons as pitching coach for the Lakeland Tigers. He was a first round selection of the Washington Senators in 1965 and pitched for 15 years at the Major League level.

2013 will be Hart's second season with Jupiter. Before that, he spent two years with the Marlins' Double-A Affiliate, the Jacksonville Suns. From 2006-2009, he coached in the Milwaukee Brewers' system, where he also played in 2005. Hart, a former infielder, was originally drafted in the 23rd round by the Kansas City Royals in 1997. Silverio returns to Jupiter for his second season with the Hammerheads. He also coached for the Jamestown Jammers from 2009-2011 and spent five seasons in the Marlins' organization as a player from 2003-2007.

This season marks Amorelli's sixth season with the Marlins' organization, his second with Jupiter. He spent the four previous seasons with the Jamestown Jammers. In his first year with Jamestown, Amorelli served as the New York Penn National League Affiliate All-Star Athletic Trainer.

Alexander was the strength and conditioning coach for the Marlins' Gulf Coast League team during the 2012 season. 2013 marks his first year with Jupiter. He graduated in 2010 with a Master Degree in Exercise Physiology from San Jose State University.
