Junland Named World Painting Company Player Of October

PEORIA, Ill. (November 5, 2009) - The Peoria Rivermen announced today that defenseman Jonas Junland has been named the World Painting Company Player of the Month for October. He led the Rivermen in goals (6), points (12), power-play goals (4) and plus/minus rating (+6) during the first month of the season.

The Swedish born defenseman led all American Hockey League defensemen with a.261 shooting percentage and power-play goals while he recorded at least one point in nine of the month's 10 games. He was ninth in the AHL in scoring and third among defensemen.

Junland (yoon-land), 21, scored two goals on Oct. 4 including the overtime game-winner against Rockford and also matched a career high with three points (one goal, two assists) against the IceHogs on Oct. 24.
