Portland, Maine - The Somerset Patriots (30-15) improved to a season-best 15 games over .500 with a 7-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (25-20) at Hadlock Field Friday night.

Somerset starter Janson Junk (W, 3-1) earned his third-straight win with seven strong innings. The Washington native allowed just one run on three hits while striking out three over a season-best seven frames to lead the Patriots.

Offensively, Somerset got the scoring started in the top of the first on a Donny Sands two-out RBI single. Sands would add a solo home run (8) in the third inning and finished the night 2-for-4 with the homer and two RBI.

Isiah Gilliam added to the Patriots in lead in the second with a two-out RBI single, while Oswaldo Cabrera also contributed with a run-scoring groundout in the third to put the team ahead 4-0 early.

Portland got a run back on an RBI single from Grant Williams in the third, but Somerset would add two more runs of their own in the seventh on a Diego Castillo (7) solo home run and a run-scoring error. Cabrera capped the team's scoring in the ninth on an RBI single.

The Sea Dogs got a pair of runs in the eight and one more in the ninth off of Kevin Gadea, but ultimately fell short.

Frank German (L, 2-4) allowed four runs on six hits over five innings to take the loss.

The Patriots and Sea Dogs continue their six-game series Friday night. Right-handed pitcher Heyden Wesneski (0-1, 13.50 ERA) gets the ball for Somerset. First pitch at Hadlock Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
