Montreal Juniors News Release

The 2009 - 2010 Season:

- Tonight is the seventh meeting between Montreal and Val D'Or this season. It is also the first of back-to-back contests which will close out the season series against the Foreurs.

- In six games this year, the Juniors have a 3-3 record against the Foreurs, but have won their last two meetings, both at home, outscoring Val D'Or 6-2 in regulation.

- The Juniors are looking to even out their road mark at Val D'Or. After winning their regular season opener 6-5 in overtime, Montreal dropped their next two contests in the Valley of Gold.

- Through 52 games played, the Juniors have a 24-23-2-3 record and 53 points.

Montreal vs. Val D'Or All-Time:

- In 14 games played, Montreal holds a slight 8-6 edge all time vs. Val D'Or.

- While visiting Centre Air Creebec, the Juniors have a 3-4 record, having scored 21 goals and surrendering 25 in their 7 games.

- At home, the Juniors fare much better against the Foreurs as they hold a 5-2 record, scoring 25 goals while only giving up 14.

- With a 12-1 home drubbing of the Foreurs in last year's regular season finale, the Juniors set their all-time mark for goals in one game. The previous record was 9, achieved twice by St. John's (2/2/2007 at Quebec, 2/14/2007 at Shawinigan).

- When the franchise was based in St. John's, the Fog Devils had a 1-5 record against the Foreurs.

- Before closing shop in Newfoundland, the team finished with a 0-2 record at home and 1-3 at Centre Air Creebec in their 6 games played.

- The Fog Devils/Juniors franchise needed a shootout to notch their first win (5-4) over the Foreurs on February 11th, 2006.

Juniors All-Time:

- Tonight's game will be the 121st in the short history of the Montréal Juniors. To date, the franchise has a 58-62 record.

Scoring 20:

- When he notched his 20th goal of the season against Rouyn-Noranda (1/28/2010), rookie Trevor Parkes became only the 4th player in Juniors history to reach that milestone.

- With 17 games to go, three more Juniors are on the verge of reaching the 20 goal plateau: right wing Nicolas Chouinard (19), centre Jérémy Gouchie (17), and right wing Guillaume Asselin (17).

Ascending the Charts:

- As a rookie in 2008-09, right wing Guillaume Asselin turned heads by finishing the season with 18 goals and 19 assists in 63 games.

- In his sophomore campaign, Asselin is showing clear signs of growth as with only 52 games under his belt, he's amassed 17 goals and 19 assists. The 36 points are one shy of the mark he reached last season.

- Asselin won the QMJHL's Offensive Player of the Week award for his 7 point performance from September 30th to October 4th. He became the first Montreal Junior to win the award this season, and the second since Angelo Esposito in October 2008.
