Gouchie, Berube lift Montreal past Val-d'Or 3 to 2

Montreal February 9th-The Montreal Juniors tonight edged divisional rival, the Val-d'Or Foreurs, 3 to 2. Juniors forward Jeremy Gouchie's third period goal and goaltender Jean-Francois Berube stellar play led the Juniors to victory.

Montreal took the lead as they scored a quick goal in the first when David Rose put the puck home at 1:24 from Chris Thorne and David Stich. Foreurs Jonathan Hazen tied the game when he scored shorthanded at 14:20. Olivier Dallaire would add another goal on the power play to give the Foreurs the lead before the end of the first.

The Juniors would tie the game when Trevor Parkes fired the puck past Jacob Gervais-Chouinard as he scored his team-high twenty-second of the year at 14:32 of the second period. In the third, Montreal took the lead as forward Jeremy Gouchie scored the game-winner at 12:52 from Nicolas Chouinard.

Montreal goaltender Jean-Francois Berube was sharp as he stopped 30/32 shots in the win. Foreurs goalie Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 22/25 stops in the loss. The Juniors record improves to 25-23-2-3 and the Foreurs record is now 19-30-4-2.

The Juniors will now return to Montreal and face Val-d'Or to complete this back-to-back series in the Auditorium on Friday at 19:35. Rouyn-Noranda Huskies will visit Montreal Sunday, at 16:05. The Chicoutimi Sagueneens will be in town on Wednesday at 19:35.
