Montreal Juniors News Release

Montreal, March 30th 2010 - Both the first round of the QMJHL playoffs and the Montreal Juniors' season came to an end at the Verdun Auditorium this Tuesday evening, with Gatineau taking the seventh and final match between the Junior and the Olympiques by a score of 2-1.

The first forty minutes saw neither team get on the board, despite exchanging several scoring chances. It was Hubert Labrie of the Olympiques who opened the scoring at 2:57 of the 3rd period, his teammates Alex Noël and Alexandre Beaton collecting assists on the play. Trevor Parkes countered for Pascal Vincent's men, and with no additional goals on either side, the two teams were forced into overtime. The first 20 minutes of sudden death solved nothing. It was after less than two minutes of the second overtime period that a loose puck found its way between Juniors' goaltender Jean François Bérubé's pad and the post-on the other side of the red line. Gatineau's captain Labrie was credited with his second goal of the series and the game, and the Juniors said goodbye to their fans for the last time of the 2009-2010 season.

Montreal's netminder Bérubé made 33 saves on 35 shots in the contest, while his opponent Maxime Clermont stopped 36 of 37 pucks.
