Juniors Hold off MAINEiacs

The Montreal Juniors jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first period, and held off a late rally by Lewiston to secure a 5-3 win before a morning crowd that included students from several school boards in Montreal.

Montreal chased Lewiston goalie Andrey Makarov with four first period goals. The visitors spent most of the first period killing off six penalties. Montreal was led by Trevor Parkes, who opened the scoring with a power play goal and added a second to finish off the first period. Montreal also got a strong game from Xavier Ouellet who had a goal and an assist. Matt Provost and Nicolas Chouinard's empty net goal rounded out the Montreal scoring.

Lewiston's goals came from Kirill Kabanov, Pierre-Olivier Morin and Etienne Brodeur. Nicholas Champion replaced Makarov in the Lewiston net for the second and third period. The combination faced a total of 34 shots. JF Berube picked up the win for Montreal, turning aside 30 of 33 shots he faced.

NOTES: The Montreal Juniors welcome the Halifax Mooseheads Wednesday evening at 7:05pm at the Verdun Auditorium.
